My Inspirations

All these artists that I am mentioning I wouldn't call my influences because they didn't inspire or influence me to do what I do. We just have certain things in common and a few similarities that makes me different. It was just nice to find artists that are doing things that I'm trying to do or already doing. I am more so interested in their content then their process.

Christopher Burkett

He became interested in photography as a means of expressing the grace, light, and beauty he saw presented in the world of nature. Over the next 20years of his life and still counting, he gradually perfected his craft to photography and wanted to find the means through which he could express his inner most feelings and inspirations. As of today Burkett works in almost exclusively with 8x10 transparencies. He is known for his printing process which he runs a 4-color printing presses and laser scanners to create detailed color separations. He is a recognized national expert in printer in Cibachrome/Ilfochrome.

Mark Klett

He started a project called 3rd View where he revisits sites of the Historic Western American landscape photographs. The project makes new photographs where he keeps a field diary of is travels and collects materials useful interpreting the scenes and change of passage of time. He also had a project before the 3rd View called the 2nd View which the 3rd View is based off of: where he did the Rephotographic Survey Project. The 3rd View began in 1997 and was completed in 2000. Over the course of the 4year project, Klett revisited 109 historic landscape sites dating back to the 18th century. The projects rephotographic were made from the original vantage points with as much precision as possible. Every attempt was also made to duplicate the original photograph's lighting conditions, both in time of day and year. Most of the sites were represented in a series of three views taken at different time. The original photographs were taken by photographers such as Timothy O'Sullivan, William Henery Jackson, and etc.

Art Wolfe
He captures the sheer beauty and wonder of the earths far corners documenting endangered speicies and ladnscapes that could be lost to future generations. His photographes are a profound statement of what exists, as well as a plea for preservation. Wolfe is known as a master of compostion, an image mafician who creates visual symphoneies for the eyes and heart. He travels thousands of miles to capture revealing portraits of wildlife, his animal studies capitalize on his subject's distinguishing features, instinctual behavior and natural habiat. "The shots that are most succesful are the photographs where the animal and him have direct eye contact. Thats the emotion of the moment." His landscape photographs are virtual paintings which mix vibrant color, texure, shape, and the rhythmic pattern of form and space with unusual light conditions. Wolfe creates ethereal, often mystical, impressions of nature, from haunting, misty landscape to abstract close ups. His photos jar the senses, awaken the imagination, allowing us access into distant worlds.

Caravaggio
Caravaggio is particularly renowned for his use of Chiaroscuuro (a technique using the contrast between a painting's light and dark parts for dramatic effect: it creates an illusion of depth in a flat canvas).

Derek Blanks

To look at it - it's just a camera Πbut that depends on who is
taking the photo. Derek Blanks is a talent unlike others who share
his craft. A photoshoot by any other name is not the same - and you
would have to experience a shoot with him to realize that fact. His
work speaks for itself. From illustrations, graphic design, paintings
and photography - Derek Blanks is a connoisseur of imagery.

His client roster ranges from high-profile celebrities to homemakers.
Even the most experienced models find themselves reviewing their
images as though they are looking at someone other than themselves.
"I walked in shy and uncomfortable and left my photo session
and felt like I was ready for the cover of VOGUE", says one client
after her very first photo session with Derek.
